Michael Strunge remains one of the main writers in a generation of Danish poetry, which has been called eighties writers or puncture poetry. Michael Strunge published 11 collections of poetry. The powerlessness Strunge felt towards society, his anger and rebellion, is often the most notable characteristics of the poetry. But he also had sides. They were inter alia expressed through erotic poems. Strunge was in the period leading up to his death, under treatment at the mental hospital at Rigshospitalet. His death in 1986 is since described as punk culture finally. His last words were: “I can fly!”.
